ME in 2050

22 Nov

There’s a saying like this.

How to spend 24 hours a day? If you spend 1/3 with a job you like, and the other 1/3 with a person you love, and the rest for dreaming. That’s perfect.

Hmm… What will I be like in 2050?

Let me think.

Wow, first, I don’t want to admit but it’s true that I’ll be really old.

 Perhaps I’ll be already retired.

So in the year 2050, I guess I’ll spend a lot of time looking back into what I’ve done in my life.

First, I’ll never forget the exchange experience in France. I’ve experienced a life that I can hardly imagine before. I’ve studies in Paris, where many people dreamed of, I’ve met new people, leant a new language, lived far away from my parents, and even travelled some places.

Though my French is still poor. I appreciate the patience of my classmates, and the chance to let me participate in. I enjoy the life here.

What else? Maybe my career?

To be honest, I’m not sure yet. I’m curious about lots of things. Perhaps when an opportunity comes, I’ll just seize it!

I like traveling. In 2050, I hope I can travel several countries.

I like ice-creams. In 2050, I hope I can taste hundreds of ice-creams and don’t get fat!

I like seeing movies. In 2050, I may have seen thousands of movies.

I like taking photos. In 2050, I may shot millions of photos. The photos may cover all the corners in my room.

If …

If all of these haven’t come true by 2050, at least I have dreams.

That’s enough.

This may be the last post in my blog for the english class. Being an online journalist is not that easy, but it’s fun! I really appreciate the class; the MSN chat; Bob, my english teacher; the creative videos, and the time we enjoy together, (expect that sometimes I really work as a blog machine-.-) And this will definitely be part of my 2050’s memory!

It’s time for digital curation!

17 Nov

After we enter the Web 2.0, the internet is developing at an amazing speed. The Internet itself has already turned into a mature tool of social media. So when considering about the future, the first word that I come up with is “curation”.(It’s a new word that I learn from my class)

There’re many tools that can be used for the digital curation.

For example, pearltrees, is a tool  to organize, discover and share everything you like on the web. It aims at content curation and mapping service.  It’s not difficult to use. For the fresh user, you have to install your Pearltrees addon to pearl the web pages you like while browsing. In Pearltrees, each pearl holds a web page. Click it to open it, drag and drop it to move it… or put it in the trash to delete it. Every one can create his pearltree and share with others. To know more, you can also see the introduction here.

Also, plug-ins like scoop.it, storify, paper.li are also useful for integrity. It’s not only good for the user to record what he has done on the internet, but also good for your community. Your friends can easily know your interests and what you’re focus on recently.

Community management becomes a more and more important role in the internet. Because the internet is a free plat-form that every one can be involved in. The access is available for every one.

So are you ready????!!

It’s time for embrace the trend of curation!

Before imagining 2050, let’s look down to the TALENTS

17 Nov

When thinking of what the world will be like in 2050, the first idea that comes to my mind is the picture named “the world according to the USA“. In this picture, only the USA is civilized, the other countries are all described badly. I’m a little angry on that, but I have to admit that China is truly the SUPERMARKET, with the comparatively low labour cost. I really get embarrassed when I see the slogan MADE IN CHINA everyday. How I wish it could be “Designed in China” or “Invented by chinese” instead of “made” or “produced”.

Today, I want to talk about a serious topic in China, and maybe it happens in other countries, too. The problem of losing talents. In fact, it’s the talents who may change the world.

China has the largest number of overseas students in the world, with a record 1.27 million studying abroad at the end of 2010, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Education.

Instead of a exchange experience, many top students stay in the countries where they study and never go back. They may get married with a foreigner and set up a family there. It’s sad. Because the chinese government provides them with schlorship but they work for another country.A recent study by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the nation’s top think-tank, shows that China is losing more first-rate minds to the West than any other country in the world.

So the chinese government has taken many actions about it. For example, the government may sponsor for 3 years of expense if a student study Master in USA. But before he goes abroad, he must sign in a contract claiming that he will come back after his graduation. If not, he should return all the money including the fee for punishment. Though many measures have been carried out, it still can’t stop the trend of losing talents to the west.

So if the problem of losing talents doesn’t change, we will never change the order or situation of the world. The world 2050 will look exactly like the year 2011.

The coolest promotion I’ve ever seen!

14 Nov

It’s the coolest promotion I’ve ever seen!

Tesco plc (LSETSCO) is a global grocery and general merchandise retailer headquartered in CheshuntUnited Kingdom. It is the third-largest retailer in the world measured by revenues (after Wal-Mart and Carrefour) and the second-largest measured by profits (after Wal-Mart).

After it’s introduced to South Korea, it even change its name to Homeplus.

In order to sell its products, it comes up with a super idea! let’s see what it does to its customers!

Armistice Day

12 Nov

Have you heard of Armistice Day before?

It’s a day to mark the end of World War I.

To be honest, I didn’t know it until yesterday. We even took a day off because of the holiday. While most chinese are actually celebrate the Single’s Day. (because the date consists of four “ones”, and 2011.11.11, 6 “ones” this year)

Here’s some history about the holiday.

The holiday began as Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1918, the date when the end of the fighting between Germany and the Allied nations took effect.

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the day as national Armistice Day in 1919 and declared it a time of “solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory…”

Many countries in the world hold special events for this day. To know more, you can read this article.

But what do you think of this holiday?

In my point of view, it’s not bad to celebrate the Armistice Day, and to remind people of the heros in the war. On the other hand, the new war continuos when we celebrate the past war. it’s ironic, isn’t it?

I think no one denies that war is bad, but it never ends.

In many parts of the world, thousands, even millions of innocent victims are suffering the war. Thousands of families are worried about their sons, their husbands, and their fathers. And thousands of young men give up their initial dream and begin to learn how to fight.

I can’t understand that after so many years of development, why we still choose the most barbaric way to solve the problem?

I don’t like war, and I don’t like to talk about war.

If I had the super power, the first thing that I’d like to do is to STOP WAR!

Compared with eBay, what makes Taobao a giant in e-commence?

10 Nov

Among young people in China, shopping on Taobao has become a habit. It’s not only because of its low price, but also of its high quality. Taobao (which means “searching for treasure” in Mandarin), the China’s leading e-commerce site has everything, from electronic equipments to secondhand Chanel shopping bags.

In 2005, there was a battle between Taobao and eBay for control of the lucrative Chinamarket. Jack Ma, the former English teacher who founded Taobao parentcompany Alibaba, confidently predicted that victory would be his: “Ebay may be a shark in the ocean, but I am a crocodile in the Yangtze River. If we fight in the ocean, we lose — but if we fight in the river, we win.”
He was right, the Chinese company Taobao beats eBay totally in the market of China.

In market data in the year 2007 clearly demonstrates that in China, Taobao has turned itself into an e-commence giant. It occupies almost all the market of the e-shopping website.

But how does it work so well inChina? What makes its success? Let’s have a close look on it.

To begin with, the biggest difference between Taobao and eBay lies in that unlike eBay, it doesn’t charge listing or transaction fees in its C2C business. People on Ebay like bidding auctions but taobao like Buy it Now. For the 1.3 billion Chinese people, it’s easier to operate. And we don’t have so much time to wait till the price is appropriate.
The other reason which is also important is that  Ebay charges listing fee, but Taobao doesn’t. that’s a primary reason why Taobao beats Ebay in China market, all the items uploaded to taobao.com are free listed. And everyone can sell his products on the website, only if he has the source of the products and have plenty time. For example, one of my classmates opens her e-shop on Taobao, and it works quite well. She has a relative in Japan, so every week, she buys the latest clothes and accessories with a comparatively low price and then upload them on her homepage. Then she contacts a delivery company to help her deliver the products. What she has to do everyday is just use QQ to chat with the customers if they have demand. Really easy, isn’t it? And that’s how the seller in Taobao works.

Thirdly, the way of payment is different between Ebay and Taobao. The eBay seller and buyer use Paypal, which means the buyer sent money to seller Immediately. But Taobao seller and buyer use the Alipay , It goes through 4 main process.
1,the buyer sends money to alipay,
2, the seller sends the goods to buyer
3, the buyer confirms (after the buyer receives the goods and makes sure it is good, then he confirms)
4 ,After the buyer confirms ,alipay sends money to the seller immediately.

This action makes sure that shopping online is safe, and what you buy online is what you want exactly. It’s a bravo action to build the relief in e-shopping.

Last but most least, as Taobao is a Chinese company, there’ re always more advertising and promotion for it, which gives reason to why it’s favoured by more Chinese consumers.

Gaudi, the soul of Barcelona

5 Nov

Last weekend, I went to Barcelona and Madrid in Spain. It’s the second European country that I’ve visited since I came to France. Barcelona is totally different from Paris. It’s more casual and not that “Europe”.

What I’ve been impressed most is the masterpieces of Gaudi. Frankly speaking, I didn’t know Gaudi until I went to Barcelona. He is absolutely a genius. I begin to think that without Gaudi, how dull the whole city will become. But luckily, Barcelona has Gaudi, who gives a brand new outlook to Barcelona, and makes it one of the most attractive city in the world!

So here, I’ve made slides with the photos I took in Barcelona to show something about Gaudi.

10 Rules for the Internet

3 Nov

1. Don’t trust every thing you’ve seen.

Like a post of Etienne “ Madonna’s dead!!” and Thipaine’s Can you believe the Internet ?. We should always be aware of the information we’ve seen the internet. Also, Claire’s Rumouring on Twitter gives us a great example to show the weakness of twitter.

2. Don’t show off too much.

3. Don’t spread the news that you don’t have evidence to public.

The Internet provides us with too much freedom of speech, which may cause the problem of the source of news.  Claire’s Rumouring on Twitter gives us a great example to show this point.

4. Don’t “like” all the things your friends say. This will make you just like anyone else.

5. Before you post something, you should know that it may be seen by the person you may not want to share with.

6. Don’t believe cable love.

Do you believe internet love? Alexia’s post show us the answer is no!

7. Don’t use too much informal words or smileys, which may turn out a bad impact on your future career.

8. Don’t waste time in E-shopping.

Diana’s E shopping addiction “inscribes someone who is crazy about online shopping.

9. Don’t spend to much time on the social network.

Florent’s Interview of a Facebook addict show a real fact in today’s social network.

10. Don’t forget the real world.

Never get  addicted to the internet,  and never be Hospitalized because of addiction to internet .

They gain nothing but happiness

3 Nov

A lately news caught my eyes. A 60-year-old couple in Pekin sold out their house and started travel the world since 2008. Till now, they have travelled more than 20 countries in Europe, North America and South America. They describe this experience as “they fell in love again”.

In the background of financial crisis, many people complain about the financial situation. They give up the plan of traveling and care every cost of their daily spending. They lose not many money, but happiness as well.

There’s a popular phrase on the internet, which says:” The price of half a square meter equals a travel in Japan and Korea. One square-meter price equals a travel in Europe and America. The price of a toilet may equals traveling the world. You may lose a toilet, but after travel,  your view of the world will be totally changed. “This phrase straightforward describe the high prices of housing in China, but also encourage us to reconsider of what we really want, and to pursue the more significant thing in our life.

As the couple in the news, they sold out their house to get the travel fund. Many people don’t understand why they do this. They think it’s time to rest after retirement. Why they leave a stable life to pursue the risks? But the couple is pretty sure that global travel has broadened their horizons, and makes them become young.

The couple leaves us a question: Do we really need to pursue a house? Or what we really need is  just a comfort?

Make money, then what?

2 Nov

“When going close to the end of life, you will find that you’ve given yourself too much pressure. The needs for buying a car and house are all unnecessary.  If you have time, have fun with your child, and love the people around you.” A 25-year-old girl said before she passed away.

According to a survey, China’s life satisfaction ranked the last. There’s no doubt that the GDP in China is developing quickly, but the life satisfaction in china is getter lower and lower. Most chinese people, especially young graduates, have financial pressure on buying a house and a car. Home mortgage slave, a new word in mainland China,  refers to those people who pay a huge amount of mortgage loans (above 70% of their disposable income), which negatively affects their social lives. Mortgage slaves work to pay the mortgage loans, which are said to enslave them.

After I come to Paris, the biggest feeling that I have is that the Parisians and Europeans know how to enjoy life. When I walk through the Luxembourg park, I always see many people lying on the chair, sometimes chatting, sometimes reading. For them, it’s a life style. Many Chinese peopel work hard all their life. They are always crowned as diligent people, but they don’t know how to spend money. They’re more like the money-maker machine. It may be a little exaggerated, but raising GDP seems to be the mission of the government. They put more emphasis on number than the quality of life. After all, the final aim of making money is not just for living, but enjoying life.

There’s a case . A graduate in my university found a job in a leading accounting firm. Her family and her friends were all very proud of her. But who knows after one year, she passed away. Just because she overworked too much and didn’t have time to see the doctor, a cold became pneumonia, and deprived her life in the end. It’s a sad story.

Why do so many people keep working, keep working overtime? They don’t feel good long time ago but they never ask for leave. It’s because of the social high-speed operation. all business owners must by all means try every way to get companies to make money!

But it’s not the significance of making money. Making money is just a form leading to a better life.

I hope that after graduation, I want to find a job which may not offer a high salary, but the one that could provide me with many chance of enjoy myself!

In the end, I want to show you a video about china’s life satisfaction ranked last, from which you may know why it becomes like that.
