Before imagining 2050, let’s look down to the TALENTS

17 Nov

When thinking of what the world will be like in 2050, the first idea that comes to my mind is the picture named “the world according to the USA“. In this picture, only the USA is civilized, the other countries are all described badly. I’m a little angry on that, but I have to admit that China is truly the SUPERMARKET, with the comparatively low labour cost. I really get embarrassed when I see the slogan MADE IN CHINA everyday. How I wish it could be “Designed in China” or “Invented by chinese” instead of “made” or “produced”.

Today, I want to talk about a serious topic in China, and maybe it happens in other countries, too. The problem of losing talents. In fact, it’s the talents who may change the world.

China has the largest number of overseas students in the world, with a record 1.27 million studying abroad at the end of 2010, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Education.

Instead of a exchange experience, many top students stay in the countries where they study and never go back. They may get married with a foreigner and set up a family there. It’s sad. Because the chinese government provides them with schlorship but they work for another country.A recent study by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the nation’s top think-tank, shows that China is losing more first-rate minds to the West than any other country in the world.

So the chinese government has taken many actions about it. For example, the government may sponsor for 3 years of expense if a student study Master in USA. But before he goes abroad, he must sign in a contract claiming that he will come back after his graduation. If not, he should return all the money including the fee for punishment. Though many measures have been carried out, it still can’t stop the trend of losing talents to the west.

So if the problem of losing talents doesn’t change, we will never change the order or situation of the world. The world 2050 will look exactly like the year 2011.

It’s a really interesting video. The director must have a good observation of the chinese people and its culture. Some parts really make sense.

So just have fun!

A problem never solved

4 Oct

The pirate problem in China is never solved. I just want to show the real facts in China.

Audio script:

Actually, as a person born in China, I don’t think I’m the right person to talk about the intellectual property problem, because I feel ashamed at this topic. I’m convinced that China is one of the biggest countries that own the pirate industry.

Can you imagine that before the official distribution of a new CD, there’re already links on the website which contain all the new songs?  Can you believe that what the picture shows here is just a little tiny part of the pirate cds, which burn by the police every year? Can you even suppose that just with a click, we can watch the latest movie without paying?

Actually, the pirate problem is far more than that you can imagine. Because of the Internet, we can easily upload and download files. And many times I don’t even know if it’s against the intellectual rights or not. Downloading the softwares and music without paying has already become a habit. Once something has become a habit, it’s always difficult to change.

However, the Chinese government is making effort. Since the beginning of this year, the most popular website for downloading, which is called verycd has been blocked. And many video webs have stopped the service of download. But the situation never changed. The government can’t keep an eye on all the websites, not to say blogs and private online space. There’re still many people who provide with free download links.

So what can we do now? I’m really not sure.
